Fast food ketens zijn slecht in vertellen waar hun ingrediënten vandaan komen. Wat blijkt nu? Het meerendeel van al het fast food vlees is terug te traceren naar mais. In Amerika wordt mais gesubsidieerd (lees ook: Farm Bill) en daarom wordt het zelfs aan koeien gegeven, zodat het in de hamburgers terecht komt. Een quote van de onderzoeker: ”If you go and sit in one of these restaurants for several hours or if you visit a lot of them, there’s just kind of a real aura of misery and unhappiness mdash; both in the place and the folks coming in and out. It’s striking compared to other restaurants.”
